The Complete Surgical Resection Without the Radiotherapy for a Recurred Anaplastic Ependymoma at the Cervicomedullary Junction
The intramedullary anaplastic ependymoma rarely occurs in the cervicomedullary junction. A 45-year-old woman had a history of right arm pain for several months. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the cervical spine demonstrated an intramedullary tumor with syrinx at the cervicomedullary junction. The patient underwent a partial resection at another institute. Neurologic deficit worsened after ...

Patients with spinal abnormalities infrequently present with intradural intramedullary bleeding. The more common causes include spinal trauma, arteriovenous malformations and saccular aneurysms of spinal arteries. On occasion, spinal cord tumors either primary or metastatic may cause intramedullary bleed with ependymoma of the conus medullaris. Spinal nerve sheath tumors such as schwannomas onl...

Although it is quite rare, second primary neoplasms in cancer patients may present with the signs and symptoms of malignant spinal cord compression. Primary spinal cord tumours in the cancer patients may be deceptive and considered as the recurrent first cancer. Therefore, it should be precisely differentiated and appropriately managed. We report such a case of intramedullary ependymoma of the ...

A 44-year-old woman with progressive cervical myelopathy and central cord syndrome was noted to have an extensive cervical intramedullary contrast-enhancing lesion on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The lesion resembled a spinal astrocytoma or ependymoma that required surgical intervention. She was subsequently diagnosed to have neuromyelitis optica (NMO), a rare idiopathic inflammatory demye...
